This is a very delayed post which was roaming in my head for a long time. I always wanted to deploy a fully functional lab for VCF on my home system to play around with API and automation. There is execellent tool VLC (VCF Lab Constructor) which will help you prepare base infrastructure and deploy VCF to play around with. But in my case, it is bit different as I am using VMware Workstation and wanted to experience bring up process. In this multi part series, I will cover how to deploy VCF and then Edge Cluster to have a functional Consolidated Management Domain.

Script to add Tag to multiple VMs

What happens if you need to add a tag to multiple Virtual Machine in vCenter server. Well one way to do is go to vCenter and add it manually by going to individual Virtual Machine. Or fun way to do it, create a Powershell script. In my case, it was couple hundred Virtual Machines, so I went with 2nd option. Follow on to read more.

Step by Step guide to upgrade distributed vCenter 6.7 to vCenter 7.0

vSphere 7.0 has been announced as General Available by VMware and is ready for download. So, its time to start upgrading lab. Starting vSphere 7.0, option to use external PSC is completely removed and any existing distributed deployment needs to be migrated to embedded deployment. In this article, we will be looking at how to upgrade a distributed deployment of vCenter server 6.7 to vCenter server 7.0.

Migrate VM between two vCenter joined to different SSO domain

Cross vCenter vMotion capability have been introduced sine vSphere 6.0. But, what if vCenter servers are joined to different SSO (single signon) domain. You will not get option in GUI to migrate VM to different vCenter then. So, is it still possible to do migration between them. In this blog, we will see how to migrate VM in such scenario.

Upgrade vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.x to 6.7 U3

So, one of target to achieve VCAP-NV was completed successfully. Now, its time to upgrade lab as well, as old lab was running on VCSA 6.0 and VMware has recently released 6.7 U3. This blog will explore step by step process to upgrade vCenter server appliance. This upgraded lab will serve for NSX-T deployment as well.

Objective 1.1 – Identify the pre-requisites and components for vSphere implementation

Good Morning All,

In last couple of days, I got some requests related to do some write ups on managing and configuring vSphere environment. As I was preparing for newly released VCP – DCV 2019 certification exam 2v0 – 21.19, I thought why not cover all exam objective as part of this blog series. Exam 2v0 – 21.19 covers vSphere 6.7 so we will discuss install, configure and management of vSphere 6.7 Update 1. It is very difficult to cover all exam objectives in a single blog, so I will try to cover one objective per blog. This is first part of my very long blog series covering first exam objective.
